Tuesday, 31 October:
Leave O.R. Tambo at 11:00 and land at 21:00 in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Wednesday, November 1st
Visit to the Liniers Market, where about 30000 cattle are auctioned every week for the meat consumption of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.
After this visit we visit the Ministry of Agriculture where we will have an introductory talk on the current status of the Argentine beef and grain industry with special emphasis on the value adding part of the production chain.
To have time for a group discussion and meditate on what we have learned we travel to an Aberdeen Angus Stud near the city of San Pedro where we enjoy a welcome lunch and have time to talk to the farmer there as to the reality beef farmers face in Argentina.

Thursday, 2 November
Travel to the city of Rosario
Visit to plant where soybeans are processed for oil for export as well as plant where soy-oil is packaged for the final consumer for domestic and export purposes.

Friday, 3 November
Visit the Rosario Harbor Grain Complex, from which about 80% of Argentina’s grain exports are made annually and where soybeans are processed.
Visit the Rosario Grain Board where most of Argentina’s grain is traded to meet with the trading companies involved in the certification and guaranteeing of international transactions.

Saturday, November 4th:

Day free for leisure in the city of Rosario and we can navigate on the mighty Paraná river to get a sense of its size and of the export facilities of this important harbour city.

Sunday, November 5th:
We start early and travel west towards the province of Córdoba where we will visit a model sustainable farm where soybeans and maize are produced near the town of Corral de Bustos.

Monday, November 6th
Today we visit the oil-processing plant of the giant AGD company where soy and peanut products are produced for export.
Take return flight to Buenos Aires after dinner.

Tuesday, 7 November
Today we visit export certified abattoirs on the outskirts of the city where we will have meetings with their export and quality certification teams.

Wednesday, November 8th
Visit some of the major supermarket chains of the metropolitan area to see how the whole value chain functions here for meat as well as other processed foods to ascertain their demand and what they have to offer.

Friday, 10 November
Visit Expo Alimentar
Departure by late afternoon to the world’s biggest waterfalls, the Iguazú waterfalls in the north of Argentina on the border with Brazil and “on the way” back to South Africa.

Saturday, November 11th
Visit the Argentine side of the waterfalls.
Evening in Puerto Iguazú

Sunday, November 12th
Visit the Brazilian side of the waterfalls and return to South Africa

No special visa is required for South African passport holders but a compulsory Yellow Fever vaccination is required for travelling between South Africa and South America at least 2 weeks before the date of travel.

The cost for the above itinerary for a group of 15 people together is USD2500 per person sharing and USD2900 per person travelling in single.
The airplane tickets for the international and internal flights are available from R17000 per person.
